Honestly, which has more to offer, better to live in, is funner and has more things to do (ex: Nightlife, Outdoor activities/adventures, ect ect). And where would you rather live (let's say the economy in CA got better). Los Angeles (or any other So Cal city like San Diego, Orange County, Newport Beach, Huntington, ect) or Montreal? No bias answers please.

I recently returned from Montreal. It has a great cultural feel, very urban, friendly/beautiful people, tons of festivals, great food, etc. Basically, in the summertime, it is heaven.

Now, while LA has some redeeming points (most notably climate), I'm not a huge fan. It is huge suburban sprawl, lacks culture, is very polluted, is filled with fake people, many areas are crime infested, etc.

Montreal seems much more liveable on so many fronts, but I don't know if I could handle the severe winters there.

I just don't see how anyone can say this considering all the great museums and cultural amenities LA has. I suppose a lot of people don't bother even looking or know where to look.

And LA is massive and filled with all types of people, some fake but plenty of real, down to earth people as well. It's pretty shallow when people can't get past the surface and LA stereotypes.

Southern Ca has over 20 million people and spans a huge region. There is far more to do and see compared to just Montreal, I don't think it's really a fair comparison.

More to do in LA, sure. Better quality of life, that's debatable.

You do love your stereotypes, don't you roadwarrior?

Well, I'm just saying what the general vibe is in the areas I discuss. Not saying that everyone there personifies it. Here in the bay area, we have a liberal slant, but there are obviously some conservatives here as well.

(There is no "general vibe" in southern california.)

I recently got back from Montreal. As an Angeleno, it's one of the only small cities I could imagine myself living in. I find it much more attractive than San Francisco, mainly just because it hasn't been completely pottery barned and is about a hundred times more stylish. I'm sure living in Montreal would get old after a few years, but I could imagine myself really loving it for a short period of time. It would be an amazing city to go to college in. Also, per capita, there is nowhere that even comes close in terms of beautiful women.

It's really tough to compare them because one would never really choose between one or the other... they seem to offer such different assets/opportunities. If I just wanted to have fun for a few years, I would definitely choose Montreal. LA can be pretty bohemian, but it's nothing like Montreal can be.

Comparing any major American city to a Candadian city there will be less violent crime in Canada.

But roadwarrior is from the Bay Area. If you look at violent crime (including murder rate) the city of San Francisco is more crime infested than the city of Los Angeles.

And let's not even talk about Oakland.
