I'm looking for cities whose entire existence is centered around partying. Obviously, all major cities like New York, Berlin, Tokyo, and LA are going to have great party scenes, but those cities have more to them than just partying. What are the 10 biggest (strictly) party cities in the world?

This is what I came up with:
  1. Las Vegas, United States
  2. Amsterdam, Netherlands
  3. Ibiza, Spain
  4. New Orleans, United States
  5. Macau, China
  6. Cancun, Mexico
  7. Monte Carlo, Monaco
  8. Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
  9. Miami, United States
  10. Bangkok, Thailand
Also list your honorable mentions:
-Atlantic City, United States

Rio de Janeiro is a major world city and so are Bangkok and Miami. Its not accurate to say that their entire existence centers around partying. Hardly.

Obviously. That's why those cities are near the bottom of my list, but a major component of each of those cities is their party scene.

International travelers come to Rio, Bangkok, and Miami for no other reason than to party. Miami has an entire economy built around spring breakers, vacationers, South Beach clubs, tropical cocktails, and beach bums. It's a party city, and I think most Miamians would readily admit that. Same goes for Bangkok and Rio- party-goers galore in those cities.

Well if you want smaller, so it's not known for a lot, maybe things like...

Binche, Belgium - Best known for its big Carnival.

Bridgetown, Barbados - Never been, but I guess they have a big "Crop over Festival" and one of their main exports is rum.

Ibiza, Balearic Islands - From what I remember the Balearics are known as a bit of a "party place" and I guess this is one of the smaller cities known best for its nightlife.

Opelousas-Eunice micropolitan area - Apparently lots of Cajun and Zydeco music plus Mardi Gras and Yambilee Festivals. I guess it's big enough to be classed as a "city" of Louisiana.

And I guess there's the following list.

Ultimate party cities - travel tips and articles - Lonely Planet

Yeah, I can't see how Amsterdam is #2 and Miami #9 on that list. Those should be switched if anything.

And there's no way you can leave off New York City from a list like that.

I've been on vacation to Amsterdam 9 times now, and while I love the city to death and have fun, I hardly would have named it on any list of huge party cities. People can smoke pot and it's a liberal city, but there isn't a massive club scene or a crazy party atmosphere.
