Harpoon sells over here...didn't really think much of the IPA. Honestly I'd say the only thing the Midwest has over the East Coast in general is corn and beer. There are some quality breweries in the Northeast, such as Smuttynose and Ithica, but as a whole they don't quite stack up to Bell's, Great Lakes, Founders, Three Floyds, or the Wisconsin & Minnesota breweries. It's about the only boasting point for this part of the country these days...
It sounds like you gotta try more Northeastern beers! Get your hands on some Victory, Southern Tier (though this is in Western NY, only a couple hours from Cleveland), or Weyerbacher, and you definitely won't be disappointed. Also, I don't know if it's considered Northeastern, but obviously Dogfish Head is an amazing brewery.
In terms of Harpoon, the IPA is decent, though not a favorite...the IPA I was referring to was from their Leviathan Series, which is their big beer series. Definitely worth a try.
I'm gonna give a big thumbs up to Pretty Things. Any beer fan needs to try it, though it's not easy to find outside of the Boston area. I like Sam Adams quite a bit, but really think of it as the Budweiser of New England*. It's a solid beer that is enjoyable, consistent, and easy to find. But I almost never order it, because there are so many more interesting options out there.
* Please note, I'm not saying the two are of similar quality, just that they serve a similar purpose for the people who drink them.

I cant get enough of Pretty Things. Every series they release is incredible. The Jack D'or is still my go-to. Glad alot of bars around the city are offering it now.

Agree on Jack D'or -- simply amazing. There is one liquor store and one bar in my neighborhood that offer Pretty Things. Those are now my exclusive go to spots for a beer.
I didn't know PA was considered part of the Northeast, or that would've changed the debate. I got a growler of Victory Prima Pils fresh from the brewery this summer, and it was superb.
I'm a nut about beer....how have I never tried Pretty Things?! And now I'm living 6,000 miles away!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I only discovered it a few months ago, after spending a couple hours at Sunset Grill and Tap, really grilling the bar tender. She came to a beautiful understanding of the kinds of beers that I like and provided me with a few different Pretty Things offerings. Since then, it's one of the first beers I'll look for.
And that's what you get, for following a girl rather than following the beer.

Haha, yea I guess that's true.
The problem is I lived a block away from Sunset up until September, and I went all the time! Bah. Oh well.
Look at Clevelands Gapping hole, a ~1 acre Parking lot 2 Blocks from the center of Town.

So Boston wins again John.
Wait is Boston's 'gaping hole' the filene's store? It's ugly but not really a gaping hole.
