This is actually one of the more civil NY vs. CA threads I've seen, with people from both regions weighing in in favor of the other.
I could live in either - really, I could... but I chose BH. More space. Better weather. Regional preference. Not a slam on the UES, I just like it more here.

I'm neutral here because I live directly between these two places and haven't been to either one - yet. But IMO the Californians in this thread are coming off as unsophisticated. But that's not surprising being that these two places have very different flavors, with California being obviously the choice of the more simple minded, which isn't necessarily a bad thing - just different.
As for which I like better, I'm torn between the two. I appreciate both places and like the thought of living in either place. I like cars and warm weather which leans California, but I also like urbanity and walkability. I think I'm happy where I'm at, where I have a better balance of the two and both options in close proximity.
