I guess we could discuss what kind of view you'd rather have.

This is actually one of the more civil NY vs. CA threads I've seen, with people from both regions weighing in in favor of the other.

I could live in either - really, I could... but I chose BH. More space. Better weather. Regional preference. Not a slam on the UES, I just like it more here.

Only if your Upper East Side apartment is right by Central Park. Otherwise your view is more like this:

this view of the Upper East Side is impressive in the solid mass of buildings rising from Central Park:

Er, that's the view from Brentwood, not Beverly Hills.

I do love it tho.

Now that's what a real city looks like.

Manhattan does a very good job at turning night into day; probably could read outside at night.

My mom said she could see the stars out well in Manhattan during the 2003 blackout.

I'm neutral here because I live directly between these two places and haven't been to either one - yet. But IMO the Californians in this thread are coming off as unsophisticated. But that's not surprising being that these two places have very different flavors, with California being obviously the choice of the more simple minded, which isn't necessarily a bad thing - just different.

As for which I like better, I'm torn between the two. I appreciate both places and like the thought of living in either place. I like cars and warm weather which leans California, but I also like urbanity and walkability. I think I'm happy where I'm at, where I have a better balance of the two and both options in close proximity.
