Not my job to educate you when the material is already in front of you.
Read the thread, and then you explain to me when DC and NYC became part of the Midwest.

lol uhh...when did i ever say dc and nyc are part of the midwest... you are implying that only places outside of the midwest (aka dc/nyc) can compete with Forest Park. Many beg to differ. I was asking you to explain to me why you believe this. Go ahead...

Heres a synopsis of the conversation, since you dont seem to have the ability to read back in the thread.
Which, in case it has escaped you, is about parks in the Midwest, it does not include parks in the south, in the east, or in the west.
What is it that is so hard for you to understand here?
Please point out where I implied that only parks outside the Midwest can compete with Forest Park, because the posts is not there, are you reading something the rest of us cant see?

But my preference leans towards expansive urban parks that are a respite from the city but don't necessarily make you forget that you're in one. That's why I tend to prefer places like Central Park and Lincoln Park.

I stand by my statement.

Um, guess what? Forest Park in St. Louis has a waterfall too. Fact is, the park contains everything one would expect a great urban park to have-- and then some. There IS no comparison in the Midwest.

I know but it is still amazing! I have never seen anything else like it anywhere else in the country. I love the fact that you can canoe/Kayak, sail, jog, roller blade, bike, snowshoe, or cross country ski all in the same park system. I was blown away when we first moved here and discovered this.

Of note, Forest Park in St Louis looks really impressive! Never even new it existed?

Actually, Indy has more parks than most. As usual you have the homers who come in and says such and such has nothing that even beats my city blah blah blah and to make it worse, try to pass it off as fact. It's all a matter of opinion. To answer your question though, White River State Park is the only urban state park in the nation. Within the park of course is the Indianapolis Zoo and White River Gardens, Victory Field, Indiana State Museum, NCAA Hall of Champions, Eiteljorg Museum of Western and Indian Art, Slow Food Garden, The Lawn (Concert Venue), part of the Central Canal and it's Indy so monuments, monuments, monuments. Not bad for a 250 acre downtown park.

The City's flagship park is actually Eagle Creek where they have Paddle, Pontoon, Wind Surfing, Hobie Cats, Canoeing and Kayaking, Shooting Range (if your're into that), Marina, Swimming, 22 miles of hiking trails give or take, Cross County ski paths and 2 retreat centers. It's also the only us park to ever host the World Rowing Championships and hosts the US Rowing Championships on a pretty frequent basis.
