Also, Im pretty sure this is either by CSA or MSA, cause Bill Gates, which the articles mentions by name, doesnt live in the city of Seattle.

SF & Houston. Interesting.
Oil, my friend.

Most are port cities with massive trade and international commerce as a backbone.

Would like to see where they got this list from. 30 million is a lot of money, but I was actually surprised the numbers weren't higher.

Yeah, I know.

I was intrigued by Houston having a higher proportion of this demographic than New York is all. SF I figured but Houston sort of surprised me. I guess I shouldnt be surprised.

Ultra High Net Worth($30M+) ratio to 2010 CSA population
San Francisco 1 in every 1,765 people
Houston 1 in every 2,689 people
New York 1 in every 3,037 people
Dallas 1 in every 3,628 people
Washington 1 in every 3,727 people
Chicago 1 in every 3,798 people
Los Angeles 1 in every 4,109
Seattle 1 in every 4,744 people
Atlanta 1 in every 5,852 people
Boston 1 in every 8,493 people

Why didn't San Jose make the list?

Yeah, New York had 91 according to the latest Forbes Ranking, but Forbes only ranks 'working' billionaires so there are probably at least 50 more billionaires in New York who are heirs to huge family fortunes or are simply no longer running their companies(retired).

The reason why I say 50(and that might seem like a big number) is because the Bay Area has about 20 such persons that I know of, so NYC undoubtedly has at least twice as many.

I don't know, I thought so at first, but where does it say that??

The numbers made me think that it might be just city propers.

Their website:

I'd be more surprised if Houston and Dallas didn't make the list. Big money is not uncommon here.

Metro Areas with the most millionaires:
1.New York
2.Los Angeles
3.Chicago
4.Washington DC
5.San Francisco
6.Philadelphia
7.Boston
8.Houston
9.Detroit
10.San Jose

Top 10 cities in the world with the most Billionaires:
1. New York
2. London
3. Moscow
4. Hong Kong
5. Los Angeles
6. Dallas
7. Istanbul
8. San Francisco
9. Chicago/Sao Paulo/Tokyo/Mumbai

I do believe it is Metros specifically because the article mentions that Bill Gates is part of Seattle's total, and he does NOT live within the city limits of Seattle.

Also, these cities all have tens of thousands of millionaires, this report only looks at those worth $30 Million or more and to have 500 persons of that net worth or higher is a huge amount let alone 1,000 or more.

I am extremely eager to see a $100 Million+ list. That would be more interesting than the Billionaires list imHo.
