Uptown Houston looks beautiful during Christmas time but doesn't come close to what New York City looks like during Christmas time.

Los Angeles Christmas spirit is pretty weak as is California's in general. What is really wierd is some people leave the lights up year around. They might turn off the lights eventually but they never take them down. Super trashy.

Only novelty about an LA christmas is that you might spend it on the beach when it is 70 degrees. Outside of that, no thanks. Christmas is mostly just another day in California. You could sleep through it and probably not even notice you missed anything.
