In the U.S., we have certain national city rivals, in terms of sports, proximities, culture, etc. What are some of the best? Some I can think of:

New York vs. Boston
Chicago vs. Detroit
Milwaukee vs. Chicago
Cleveland vs. Pittsburgh
Houston vs. Dallas

What else?

My best is people who aren't from Chicago or NYC who always say "NYC vs Chicago". I've been in Chicago for 10 years and have had good friends in NYC for just as long. I've never seen any rivalry in anything except maybe sometimes if our teams are playing each other. NYC doesn't care about Chicago for the most part, and Chicagoans either like to visit or they don't. There's no emulation other than the fact they both happen to have tall buildings and trains.

Historically there was a lot of emulation though. Chicago was always put off at being called the "Second City" so they tried to make their city to rival New York.

It is called the "second city" because the city was almost completely destroyed by fire over 100 years ago and then rebuilt...
