Things to do: Cleveland (R&R Hall of Fame, West Side Market, Little Italy, better downtown, Lake Erie, Cuyahoga NP, Cedar Point Roller Coasters)
Shopping: Dallas, that goes without saying
Scenery: neither have spectacular topgraphy but Cleveland gets the edge with Lake Erie and Cuyahog National Park on the outskirts. Dallas is topographically in the middle of nowhere.
Economy: Dallas by a wide margin
Skyline: Dallas, a bit bigger and more contemporary
Schools: K-12? wouldn't know
Universities: give Cleveland the edge, CWU>SMU
Climate: both are attrocious (Cleveland gloomy and cold winter, Dallas inferno summers), pick your poision
Public Transit and airport: Cleveland on PT, more condusive city for rail and pedestrians, DFW airport one of the nation's premier Int'l airports
Traffic: Oh I just love sitting in traffic in Cleveland, it's more fun than stop and go in Plano. All cities have traffic neither one is better per se, with the exeption that Dallas has more modern freeways.
Suburbs: Cleveland
Better Location: definitely Cleveland
Cultural Scene: could be a tie, both come out strong
Crime/Safety: I'll say Dallas, Cleveland is still very tarnished with crime
Better Vibe: Cleveland, has more originality.
Things to do: CLEVELAND (cultural advantage...Cleveland Orchestra, Playhouse Square, Cleveland Museum of Art, Westside Market, old ethnic festivals..., Rock and Roll HOF, Pro Football HOF nearby, Amish country nearby, Cedar Point rollercoaster park, watersports on the lake, National Park "emerald necklace", Great Lakes Brewery and local pubs, Little Italy, University Circle...more walkable attractions)
Shopping: DALLAS (many more options and quality...most of Cleveland's shopping is in the suburbs)
Scenery: CLEVELAND (nod to Cleveland...Lake, National Park "emerald necklace", forests)
Economy: DALLAS (much more diverse and stable)
Skyline: DALLAS (hands down)
Schools: DALLAS (some success stories in Dallas...not many in Cleveland city)
Universities: CLEVELAND (Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland Institute of Art, Cleveland Institute of Music, and Oberlin College fair better on National rankings)
Climate: DALLAS (Dallas's worst is not as bad as Cleveland's worst)
Public Transit: CLEVELAND (complete system and more dense --trains, BRT, buses, and free Downtown circulators)
Airport: DALLAS (Dallas airport >> Cleveland airport )
Traffic: CLEVELAND (infrastructure built for a city twice the size...rush hour barely exists)
Suburbs: CLEVELAND (East side old world money Bratenahl, Hunting Valley, Moreland Hills, Pepper Pike, Gate Mills, Shaker Heights...turn of the century architecture)
Better Location: CLEVELAND (proximity to East Coast, Canada, mountains, lake, and Chicago)
Cultural Scene: CLEVELAND (easy and walkable access to old money world culture in Cleveland Orchestra, Cleveland Museum of Art, Playhouse Square, etc)
Crime/Safety: DALLAS
Better Vibe: CLEVELAND (walkability, people, character, uniqueness, density)
hmm...very close call. I'd give Cleveland the slight edge mostly due to the walkability and unique aspects/character of neighborhoods, downtown, and architecture -- to me feels more "city like."
Also, most of Cleveland's attractions are walking distance from each other centered in either Downtown or University Circle. Downtown Cleveland is also adding three more attractions: an Aquarium opening on Jan, a Casino opening in Mar, and the Medical Mart linked with Cleveland Clinic.
Which city would you prefer in the following categories, and overall?
Things to do:
Shopping: Dallas, likely
Scenery: Cleveland
Economy: Cleveland, believe it or not
Skyline: Tie
Schools: Public - Dallas, Private - Cleveland
Universities: Cleveland
Climate: Cleveland
Public Transit and airport: Cleveland
Traffic: Cleveland
Suburbs: Cleveland
Better Location: Cleveland
Cultural Scene: Cleveland, but I like Dallas too
Crime/Safety: Dallas
Better Vibe: Cleveland
The one you choose: Cleveland
I'm a northerner for life and I love Cleveland, but if I ever had to live in the south, Dallas is one of the places I'd look at

Interesting. Never realized there were lots of things to see/do in Cleveland.
Things to do- Depends. I think both have lots of stuff to do, but Cleveland probably has more in a smaller area. Dallas is pretty spread out.
Shopping: Dallas hands down
Scenery: Cleveland. Dallas isnt much to look at.
Economy: Dallas, but Cleveland is getting better.
Schools: I dont know.
Universities: dont know that either
Climate: Dallas. I cant stand the cold
Public Transit and airport: Public transport, Cleveland. Airport, Dallas by a landslide
Traffic: Ive had an easier time with traffic in Cleveland
Suburbs: Dallas has the better burbs
Better Location: Cleveland has more cities that are close by
Cultural Scene: It would be pretty close in the arts. By food, Dallas has a lot more ethnic food from Asia and Latin America, but Cleveland has a lot from European countries (like Poland).
Crime/Safety: Dallas
Better Vibe: Too subjective
Things to do:
Shopping: DALLAS
Scenery: DALLAS
Economy: DALLAS
Schools: DALLAS
Universities: CLEVELAND
Climate: DALLAS
Public Transit and airport: PT CLEVELAND, Airport DALLAS
Traffic: CLEVELAND
Suburbs: DALLAS, some of the most upscale suburbs in the U.S. like Westlake and South Lake
Better Location: DALLAS, better fly time to any region of the country IMO
Cultural Scene: CLEVELAND
Crime/Safety: DALLAS
Better Vibe: DALLAS
The one you choose: DALLAS! Cleveland is more closely compared to Fort Worth than is Dallas IMO. Cleveland has a lot to offer
