I actually agree with many other economists that the private sector will largely offset government cuts in D.C. You keep referring to the 1980's. Washington D.C. couldn't be further from were it was in the 1980's now in 2011. This is not a government town anymore. That distinction leaves more and more every year. I think D.C. makes you nervous because you really don't know yourself. If you did, you would have already made a prediction.

Housing prices are already pressured in DC I know many folks sitting on property in Fairfax and Loudon debating short sake or stay

Any DC area employee who recieved a pay raise of more than 2% over the last two years without grade oncrease has lived in a bubbble relative to the remainder of the US

Govt is FAR to large and contractors are FAR to rampant Franly I am sick an tired of accumulating deficit and debt (BTW you owe 44K as of today) to government GROSS overspend and the DC economy is fuled by this DO you really not see this????????
