Yeah, we were down 40 murders year-over-year back in July, but then things really picked up at the end of the year. We ended the year just a few below the year before (which was still the lowest we've had since the 60's).

This year we had 40 murders in roughly the first 3 weeks of January, double the January average of the past few years, but then no murders for the last 7-8 days now.

It really goes up and down. It's mostly whether the damn gangs are going at each other or not at any specific time. Get rid of the damn gangs and the homicide rate here would drop like a rock.

Exactly, which is why a metro full of people who grow up fighting (not pulling guns) in rowhomes is much harder than one that grows up in suburban areas or sprawled out "cities" and doesn't have that old-school upbringing so many places in the Philadelphia area do.

Like the one that I grew up in.
So you're telling me, people in LA or Houston don't fight as much as people in Philly? is there any way to prove that? I means, LA has areas just as densely populated as Philly, so they must be fighting as much as Philly right? oh wait, but those are not rowhomes so, there must be no fighting in those areas?

51 in LA County as of January 29.

I wonder where NY is at, since NY City and LA county have similar populations.

I also wonder where Brooklyn is at, compared to Chicago.

Oakland had 2 on Thursday, bringing the total to 11 for the year (as of 2/3). 14 last year at this time. The first 4 weeks of the year they only had 4. But in the last week they've had 7. I was really hoping for a turn around for the better this year, like 50-60, but it looks like it will be around the century mark again.
111 last year; 95 the year before.

26 in New Orleans now. After 24 in the first 4 weeks of the year, we've only had 2 in the last week. Celebrate the small victories...

My city just got three last night. We're up to fifty now. I'm going to try to act upset and irritated. But really I'm just pumping my chest in glory...AAARRRGG,,,,I come from such a hard place. Get my username people. Your talking to one tough hombre'..Remember me, the man who lives in a war zone..I'll pretend it bothers me and that I wish it were less. But in truth..I couldn't be prouder....See if my cities harder than yours, then I must be harder...

Oh wait, hold on...someone just shot my mom! What the f....! Oh My God! (whaling in pain) Why god, why? she never did anything to anyone. Why have you forsaken me...(The deep inner love for violence is now gone forever)..It's nothing to be proud of anymore. Now I can't even talk about murders or murder rates..Now I see that it's definately nothing to be proud of..

I love it when people make excuses why their cities murder rate isn't higher. They'll use coverups, methods such as murders being made to manslaughter, police corruption. It's like as bad as it already is, that isn't good enough. They want higher numbers. Of course until one of those statistics is their own..
