The county got so large that it out grew the Courthouse by 1966. That's why it's a museum.

Since Fayette County, PA is part of the Pittsburgh MSA, the most iconic non-skyscraper in the Pittsburgh MSA is Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater.

It's located about three miles west of the Somerset County line, though, so it's almost out of the MSA. Still counts, though.

In the city of Pittsburgh, I'd say it's probably PNC Park.

I tend to associate iconicism (is that a word ) with notoriety moreso than aesthetics in most cases.

For Dallas, the Texas schoolbook depository and grassy knoll are far more iconic, and recognizable than anything else in or around Dallas IMO. Hell, I recognized my precise location having inadvertantly stumbled upon it during my initial visit. These probably come to mind first when I think of iconic buildings/structions in the area.

Shri Swaminarayan Mandir Atlanta

Quote:
The Shri Swaminarayan Mandir Atlanta is the sixth BAPS traditional Hindu stone temple built outside of India. It is also the largest Hindu temple of its kind outside of India. It is currently open to the public. The 32,000-square-foot (3,000 m2) temple, officially called the Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, sits on 30 acres (120,000 m2). The location is the largest temple in North America for BAPS. Built at an estimated cost of $19 million, the temple complex is only the third of its kind in the country.
