Miami:
From Miami Beach from east to west with no traffic, it would probably take me 20/25 minutes to the Everglades. To the south, it's probably more like 40 minutes and to the north it's probably about 90 minutes to the north end of Palm Beach County.

Raleigh (MSA):
To the west about 20 minutes. To the east, north and south about 30 minutes from central Raleigh. This does not include the Durham side of the CSA. If that's included, then I'd say the west distance would be about 50 minutes to an hour to the very west end of Orange County.

Boston
non rush hour
45 min to an hour to RI state line
1 hour west to Worcester
1 hour south to Cape Cod
45 min north to NH state line, though the metro area continues up I-93 to Manchester which is a little over an hour.

With no traffic it is 45-50 minutes from Trenton to Wilmington

I go from Princeton to Wilmington midday in under an hour regularly

You can drive from wilmington to NYC or DC (Baltimore in under an hour)in under 2 hours, let alone Philly or Trenton to Wilmington

East to West is more difficult cause there's no direct 'straight line' route between Discovery Bay(Easternmost Bay Area place Gualala(Westernmost Bay Area place). Google Maps says 172 miles but if we drew a straight line and they were on the same latitude it would be maybe 80 miles.

220 miles (Though the majority of the population is around the bay)

That would include DC/Baltimore/Philly/NYC and many smaller cities in between

Well I'd say maybe 15-20 minutes.

From the southeast side of the metro at Michigan City to the northwest reaches of the metra commuter lines at Harvard is 130 miles, or around 2 and a half hours. Of course at rush hour with horrible traffic it could easily take 4 hours or more.

That's a pretty far reach though. Cloverdale is almost 90 miles north of San Fran through the largely wide open and mountain areas to the north of San Fran. I always though Santa Rosa was the reaches of what you can rationally include in the San Fran area.

Bitterwater is a 60 mile drive through rural areas just to reach the southern commuter areas of San Jose around Gilroy.

If you're going to include those areas places, I could almost drag the Chicago area out to Iowa and over to South Bend.

Well, I didnt make up the rules for this thread, I just anwered the question and the answer is, the northernmost place in Sonoma County is Cloverdale and the Southernmost place in San Benito County is a place called Bitterwater.

Its 220 miles from Cloverdale to Bitterwater.

Never heard of Bitterwater, never been to Bitterwater and by the looks of it on Google Maps, I dont think Im missing much.

I tested out the time today.

I-75 N to I-94 E - Google Maps

The Google estimated time is pretty accurate non-rush hour. Rush hour times would probably add about 10-15 minutes. Although, I have sort of a lead foot, so I was going 80 in the fast lane 90% of the way.

based on our News Broadcasting signals from Palm Bay, Florida to Ocala, Florida .2 Hours 35 Minutes. this is SE to NW

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Palm+B...+Ocala&t=m&z=9

then

Western Most To Easter Most In The Immediate Metro
Mascotte(West) to to Beaches(East) - 1 Hour 42 Minutes. it's actually closer from about Groveland to go to the Gulf Coast Beaches rather the Atlantic!

Then South Poincianna to North Palm Coast 2 hours 22 minutes.

In the immediate three county region that makes Orlando probably a little over or under an hour for traffic.
