My girlfriend & I are located in Wilkes-Barre Pa & looking to move to a new city with a lower cost of living, bigger nightlife, and more carreer oppertunities. I compiled a list with a number of different cities & narrowed my search down to 5 places, Houston, Cincinnati, New Orleans, Cleveland, & Pittsburgh (from least to most expensive).
I am a musician who focuses mainly on Punk & Metal, so an area with an abundance of musical venues & a large punk/metal culture is a must for me. We both also enjoy the bar scene & I am a bit of a history and architecture buff. Which of these cities is best for us?

Don't count out St. Louis-- it's an awesome city with a great urban vibe!

I'm guessing her profession isn't a factor in the move?

How about the cost of living? I already live in a place within the top 20 best economies in the U.S., so finding a place cheaper than here is pretty difficult.

It's very comparable to Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Cincinnati, with a similar urban edge as these cities as well.

Surprised you aren't interested in New Jersey or Philly (even though COL will be up). Alot of bands from those genres launch from that area.

these cities all seem pretty equal when it comes to what you're looking for. If you are willing to go up a notch in the cost of living categor, definitely consider Philly or Chicago (which will provide a lot more opportunity when it comes to your musical endeavors)

Yeah, I like Jersey & Philly, but everything is way too expensive. Especially cigarettes. I don't have enough to spend $9 or $10 on a pack. Haha.
