Orlando vs Asheville (living, crime, places, school)

Had to start a new thread, my last one was too generic.

I'm a FL native living in Asheville NC area and miss Central FL. I know many ppl love it up here and I can see why. I, however, like places like Winter Park and Oviedo (Orlando area) just as much.

So my question is, based on activities, crime, schools, all the important stuff... which place do you prefer? Am I crazy to like small towns outside of Orlando more than Asheville?
