Not bad. I like the ordering and I can sort of understand your tiering too.
Anyhow, I never got the chance to tier them myself (on importance/relevance/power):
- New York
(gap)
- Los Angeles
(gap)
- Chicago/Washington/Bay Area
(gap)
- Boston/Houston/Dallas
(gap)
- Philadelphia
(gap)
- Atlanta/Miami/Seattle
(gap)
- Detroit/Minneapolis
(gap)
- Phoenix/Denver/San Diego
The end.
My guess is by the eve of 2020, we'll see Atlanta and Miami on a minimum of the same tier as Philadelphia, whether Seattle follows up is to be seen given it's size disadvantage.
It is behind ny, la, chicago, dc, bay area, houston and dfw
I think its behind Boston too.
That would make it ninth
Present day it's no longer the case.
Tokyo, New York, Los Angeles, London, Paris, Washington, Bay Area, Nagoya, Chicago, Seoul, Rhine-Ruhr, Boston, Houston, Dallas, and Randstad. This year in 2013: Shanghai, Moscow, Beijing, Toronto, and one other have surpassed it too and São Paulo and Mexico City will by the end of this summer.

That could be all well and true, (Which it isn't) however Htown doesn't have to bash philly posters for repoint their city hard. It's 4th in GDP city wise and its top 3 in the country for gentrification. In about 3 years, Philly will be the next hot place to be.
