1NYC
2Buffalo
3Rochester

Albany is the state capital but having the government there makes it useless since the NY govt is horrible.

In Ohio, Cincinnati? (the largest metro in the state?) Only in the dreams of Ohio's other "2-Cs"--what were their names again?

Virginia presents an interesting case, especially when you throw in the fact that they have counties that essentially function as cities. Just going by incorporated municipalities, I'd probably go with VA Beach with Richmond being first and Norfolk second. Throwing counties into the mix puts Fairfax County first, Richmond probably ranking second, and Norfolk third.

For my native SC, I'd go with Greenville, with Charleston being first (mainly due to the port) and Columbia second.

4. San Antonio- 2nd Largest City, popular with tourists
5. Fort Worth- 5th largest city, great with arts and entertainment

El Paso, Lubbock, Amarillo, College Station, Tyler, Corpus Christi, Mc Allen, and others are all on their way up, but the big 5 for now is clear
Im not saying your ranking is wrong because you know TX better than I but I would like to humbly point out that San Antonio has more Fortune 500 companies than Austin--4 vs 2.

Not saying this changes anything but I do think its worth mentioning.

Would have to disagree with Fayetteville at #5. Greensboro and Winston-Salem deserve to be at #4 and #5 (a good case could be made for either city at either position).

You have a point. Orlando's tourism and convention business sectors give it a leg up for second, but Tampa's larger and has a port.

I wonder who comes in second in FL for corporate/F500 headquarters? It just might be Jacksonville.
