I was offered a job in both cities. I'm white twenty-something male from the chicagoland area. Which one should I choose? Pros and cons? Any help is appreciated.

What do you do for a living?
What do you do for fun?
What kind of housing do you want?
How much space between you and neighbors?
What kind of neighbors do you want - or don't want - around you?
What is your budget?

I don't want to disclose what I do for a living.
Fun? Bars (mostly sports bar types but a club every once in awhile). Concerts. I'm big on going out to eat.
Housing? Apartment for awhile and then move into a house in a suburban area.
Space? I'm more of an urban guy, but I will want to settle into a suburban area in a couple of years.
Neighbors? I really don't mind as long as they're not trashy and loud.
Budget? Wherever I go I'm planning on getting a cheap studio in a "hip" area of town. But I wouldn't want to go over $900 a month.

Has anyone been to both cities? If so can you compare/contrast?

I live Nashville and its very fun and friendly. Great nightlife and theres always things to do such as festivals, concerts, etc. Its more liberal than most may think, but the suburbs lean more conservative. Southern atmosphere but theres LOTS of transplants, especially in newer areas. People are generally attractive. Anything else you wanna know?

Source: Lived in Nashville for several years but originally from Michigan.

You're from Chicago. Nashville is the obvious choice. You can drive back whenever you want to visit family/friends. Although I've never been there, San Antonio is too far and will leave you feeling isolated from your roots. Nashville is hot right now, do it. You can always come back to Chicago.

Edit - this thread is from 2012 so OP is long gone...

I would choose Nashville. It is close to the midwest and offers a great quality of life. Nashville is rebuilding urban neighborhoods and continues to attract high wage jobs. San Antonio is a nice city too and may offer you more for your money.
