For towns the size of East St. Louis, Chester, PA would be up there too I believe they had like 28 murders or something in 2011 for a town of 33K. That's about 85 per 100,000. Not sure what they had this year.
Wow. That's almost 1 out of every 1,000 people being murdered.

I wondered off the highway to Chester once to look for gas for my rental car before returning it to the airport. What a mistake! I'd have to say that it was the only time I was really afraid for my life just by being somewhere. It was at night and the city looked to be just hookers and drug dealers.

Atlanta just had the first murder of 2013 (that I know of) only on the 2nd day. Hopefully its not a sign that its going to be a violent year, especially since I might be moving back there

Ouch.

It's too early to tell what kind of year it will be. I live in the suburbs, but the crime rate out here is rising. I think I might be known for being very hard on Atlanta(to say the least). However, it has come a long way since the days when it recorded 231 murders, in 1990. On the other hand, there is a chance the murder rate could go up again.

Yeah, it is too early to tell. It has been quiet in Atlanta for a few weeks so it was just a matter of time. I remember 2011 started with 5 murders in just the first week. Hopefully this year will be even lower, like in the 60's.

And 2011 ended with 87 murders. Last year it ended with 82 murders. We might get below 80 this year.

Which is nothing new. Although Technically a majority of "Hispanics" would fall under white.
