I would hope so, but Philadelphia worries me, not that its bad, just that the city could pull it off. Of course though Philadelphia is my top choice for hosting the Olympics.

Spreading the venues around the Bay Area wouldn't solve the traffic problem. It would only spread the traffic problem around the whole Bay Area. Keep the Olympics away from the Bay. Let LA have them. Again.

The loop made by the rails would greatly enhance that as it connects the 8 venues. All they need now is the handy dome over the loop
One thing they did like about Houston was that all of its stadiums ARE really close together and are served by light rail. By the time 2024 rolls around, more lines will be complete (2 more new lines are nearing completion and so is an extension of the original line).

That said, most of the venues for all of the events would've been spread out over the metro area which means that while inner loop would've seen the most action, Olympic guests would've gotten to see a bunch of the Houston area

Houston, the 2012 Olympics, and what could have been - Houston Chronicle

What would've been REALLY cool is the rowing in the Texas City Reservoir and the Yachting in Galveston Bay. Also, the rafting on the bayou in Tinsley Park just west of downtown.

You said the same thing in 2008 still has not happened

Anyway, didn't you hear that they were converting DFW back to an MSA with the new redefinitions next year.

Dallas is heading back to the 4M club

The crazy thing is they are reassigning the counties too. FW Metro will have over 3M people, Dallas will have close to 4M.

The CSA will still be 6.5M good enough for an Olympic bid

Las Vegas should really host the Olympics. It will be good to have the new venues constructed in Las Vegas which can open the door to NBA, MLB, and NFL teams in the city. Las Vegas is the biggest metro area in the nation that doesn't have any professional sports teams and I think that is long overdue. There is also no concern about hotel occupancy since Vegas has the most hotel rooms in the world. They can do the rowing and triathlon through Lake Mead and have the bike race along the famous Strip past all the landmarks. It would be a waste to build a new olympic stadium in a city that doesn't really need a new sports venue like New York or Chicago.
