I came across this article which listed some of the musical trend setters (cities, that is) in North America. There were some surprises on here (like my hometown Houston actually even appearing on the graphs that were generated!).
Ok. Maybe im reading this wrong (I sure hope so) because it looks like it's going from top to bottom. I can speak for hip hop. I can't even think of one rapper that's hot right now that came out of half of these cities. Some cities (Miami, Detroit, Baltimore, DC, STL, New Orleans, ect) should be put ahead of many of those cities but are not even mentioned on there at all.
I'd expect NY, LA and Houston to be much higher on hip hop chart. Even if this chart is taking into consideration current times. These cities still have much influence in Today's music.
