I've been to DC myself and yes, it doesn't feel like a Southern city, but that's how the region is defined so it's easier just to stick with it.
What would you know about how anything feels here?? I think you've travelled to the U.S. once, and you've never lived here.

If I travelled through Australia for a week or two, would that give me a good feel for the place?? Better than those who've lived there for over 40 years??

I never claimed something so ridiculous.

I was in the US for 6 weeks, too.

So you're arguing DC DOES feel Southern then? Well that's your opinion. Most here would disagree with you as well, I was acknowledging that culturally DC isn't very southern but that I wasn't going by that but by census-defined regions.

The census is stupid if they include Maryland and DC in the South. DC is and was the capital of the Union of the United States of America. They were not traitors during the Civil War. Most of Maryland's men fought for the Union as well.

I wish this was Great Lake cities vs. Southern Cities. Then we could have Toronto on the team

I'm not arguing that at all. I'm arguing that you wouldn't know any better.

Atlanta, Charlotte, Miami, New Orleans, Orlando and Tampa vs. Chicago, Detroit, Indianapolis, Milwaukee and Minneapolis? Hmmmm ... Chicago is the best city out of both. Atlanta, New Orleans and Miami are 2,3 and 4. Man, it's tough on this one but I'm goin with the south.
