I really like both cities. I might give the edge to Annapolis for its proximity to DC.

I can only answer about Savannah since I currently live here, sadly I've never been to Annapolis

Weather
- Affordable housing- Inland homes in suburbs like Pooler or Bloomingdale are slightly cheaper. Expect high rents and mortgages for homes in the historic district and Tybee Island(the only beach we got)
- Place for someone in their mid 30's- I'm not sure. Savannah is a college town(there's like 4 or 5 colleges in the city proper) and popular retirement spot. That said, you can find people around your age, but you'll probably have to go further inland to the suburbs or islands.
- Laid back place to live- Sorta. I mean there really is nothing to do so if that's your idea of laid back, then yeah. Whatever you do, don't move to the midtown/westside or southside areas. Those spots are highly commercialized and in some spots dangerous.
- Friendly people- If you grew up in this town and know everyone, yes. If you're an import(like me), no.
- Crime rate- Not good for a town this size
- Restaurants- Surprisingly, there are some great restaurants downtown and and a few scattered throughout the town. Most of the restaurants here are chains though.
- Dating for single people- Haha. No
- Overall quality of life- Not so good. There aren't many jobs to be had. The weather is hot and humid. We got just three hospitals.
- Unique place to live- Yeah but that's not a good thing.
- Economy- As I mentioned above, Savannah has a poor economy. Unless you want to work at a hospital or retail store, you're pretty much out of luck

Annapolis is a nice and historic town by the water, about 45 minutes east of DC. I know people who live there and commute. Unfortunately, there is no train service yet between DC and Annapolis (which is kind of stupid).

DC is the big happening place around here. It's just preferable to be near it for everything IMO. That's why I would choose to live in a more nearby suburb like Bethesda.

I've only been to visit Savannah a school named SCAD, so I can't say much about it.

- Weather-I prefer the weather of Savannah over Annapolis.
- Affordable housing-Maryland is the wealthiest state in America, so the cost of housing will be higher than most of Georgia. So Savannah gets the upper hand on that
- Place for someone in their mid 30's-This is a tough one, but I'll give it to Annapolis only because DC & Baltimore are close by.
- Laid back place to live-Both are pretty laid back, but I believe Savannah is more laid back than Annapolis.
- Friendly people-Savannah
- Crime rate-Annapolis
- Restaurants-Annapolis, especially if your talking about Anne Arundel County. You can find local restaurants, plenty of chains (some chains have multiple locations in the county such as The Cheesecake Factory), but Savannah isn't to be slept on. It has great restaurants as well, maybe even better local establishments than Annapolis but because Annapolis has a great deal of both, so it wins.
- Dating for single people-I wouldn't know, I would imagine Savannah though.
- Overall quality of life-Annapolis has a very high quality of life, great schools, and etc.
- Unique place to live-both.
- Economy-Annapolis, with BRAC, the US Govt expansion, and etc it's only bound to keep growing.

Agreed. I'd pick Bethesda over Annapolis if I had the cash, you have a much better retail scene, more going on because it's close to DC, and etc.

same here. But I would change might to would. Being 30 minutes to both DC and Balt is just too much to overcome when Annapolis itself can easily compete with Savannah (which is a really neat and vibrant little city).

I have lived in Savannah from 2009-2010...So here's my opinion on it.

- Weather (Mild winter, hot summer, fall was fine)

- Affordable housing (Average for a southern city)

- Place for someone in their mid 30's (I am in my 20s and really did not enjoy the nightlife...I needed something quicker, 30's may be okay....

- Laid back place to live - VERY laid back place to live.

- Friendly people - People are friendly.

- Crime rate - High for a small city.

- Restaurants - Good restaurants in the city.

- Dating for single people - Sucked.

- Overall quality of life - I did not enjoy living in Savannah. The beach is not even as close as you think.

- Unique place to live - Very unique. It's a unique place to visit which is way better than living there all the time.

- Economy - Economy sucked. No industry, did not know a lot of professionals like I do in Charlotte. At least I have a social circle of Bankers, people in the IT field, insurance, etc....Savannah was like...Eh...

This was quite strange to me. Having lived here my whole life, I know the beach is no more than 15 minutes from downtown. I met my husband here, so obviously the dating doesn't suck that bad. Maybe you musts nt know how to attract a southern gentleman. And WHO doesn't enjoy life here? It's picturesque. And I could stay in Savannah my whole life and find new things everyday, which I intend to do.

Two good towns with lots of character. I'd probably pick Annapolis because of the climate. Savannah is too hot and steamy.

Moving to Charlotte, NC. I have met many friends that work for the banks, IBM, and alot of the fortune 500 companies. I guess there was not much industry or professionals I could connect with....
