He cast off Minneapolis as a Detroit or Cleveland and got burned pretty bad. Its the Seattle of the Midwest.
I'd put the Twin cities above San Diego. San Diego is pleasant, but Minneapolis (w/ St. Paul) is just a stronger city overall.

Not that I take much stock in a C-D poll but in the only thread I could find that compares just San Diego and Minneapolis with no Seattle in the mix, SD wins by a margin of 60% to 40%.
