Metropolis feels like NYC. Gotham city may be NYC, may be Chicago.

I'm watching the tv series Gotham now. The city is pretty much defined by crime. New York is too safe currently, so Chicago would be most comparable to Gotham. Metropolis could be compared to New York.

But Cores of the cities gain most of Batman fighting the bad guys. That isn't the Core of Chicago today. But Batman goes back much much further then today. And history of the Al Capone era. Of course ..... NY C was also a Big mafia city.

Al Capone was a born and raised in New Yorker. Basically sent by the mob there to Chicago. He used skills learned well to change another city's history. Though European ethic gangs were also present in US large cities. Now other groups define most crime more segregated in US cities.

The Super-Villains of Batman in Gotham. Were over the Top figures and saving the whole city. Not Street-Thugs and hood gangs inferred.

Disregarding size... Baltimore is Gotham and DC is Metropolis.

Metropolis is easily New York hands down! Gotham City could be NY or Chicago... I could even venture to say Nashville could be or play a modern day Gotham City, especially with its skyline view if only for the AT&T tower aka Batman bldg. Street level and crime though, NYC or Chicago all day long...

Gotham always looked like Los Angeles to me, especially when Batman and the Joker had a surf contest.

Gotham was a nickname for New York City before Batman or DC Comics even existed, and there are a lot of current establishments in NYC that carry the "Gotham" name. For example, Gotham theater in Harlem opened in 1903.

When people think Al Capone they think Chicago though. He is more well known for the things he did in Chicago rather then NYC.
Not something to be proud of.

I thought the same. If it's not NYC, it's Nashville.
