Which is a more interesting collective region for you..from an outsiders' perspective?
I have been to both, and both places have some very intriguing elements. A diverse country of 30+ million vs. a culturally distinct region of 70 million.
Just curious about what others have to say about:
- cities (Toronto/ Montreal/ Vancouver vs. Dallas/ Atlanta/ New Orleans)
- rural areas
- scenery
- people (Canadian reserved/ politeness/ liberal vs. Southern gregariousness/ conservative)
- weather (Canadian cold vs Southern hot)
- lifestyle
- popular culture

The US for all of these, but Canada is no slouch. I'd take Toronto and Quebec over any part of the Desert Southwest, but give me The South over everything.
Edit: I just realized we were only comparing Canada to the South. Considering that, I'd give the edge to the former when it comes to cities and scenery.
As a Southerner, I have been all over the South. I like a lot of aspects of it, and dislike some as well. In my biased opinion, it's my favorite area of the United States. I have been to a handful of Canadian provinces, and really enjoyed my time there. So as far as "interest" goes, I am more interested in Canada because there is a lot that I haven't explored or experienced there, unlike the South.
For 8 months a year the Canadian climate can range anywhere from cool to really hot,and for 4 months a year its winter and its cold, but not every one views cold as a negative,2-3 ft snowfall is a negative if you have to drive anywhere.
American south? nice beaches scattered about..
