While living in DC and having mutual friends (in our late 20s and 30s), I would always try to convince them that Vegas (where i'm from) would be better for vacay and that they should visit. One of our friends from Miami think the opposite. IMO, I feel Miami Beach is redundant. It's lots of bars and beach activity and maybe some relaxing on the beach during the day. But, its the same everyday. He thinks the same about Vegas (gambling all day, everyday).
Where do you have more fun and why? FYI, this is not a discussion limited to just people in their 20s or 30s. It can range from teens to the retiree. Please vote!

my overall vibes of the places are that vegas seems a more american type of place with gambling, miami more european with beaches.
food: the food is slightly better with more variety in vegas. miami no slouch either with upscale dining if that's what you're looking for lol.
nightlife: I only do clubs so for clubs both places are the best of the best(no last call thankfully!), miami clubs being a bit more exclusive but also more $$.
Shopping: shopping you can't go wrong with either, from name brands to outlets to everything. for vegas every big casino pretty much has its own mall, miami has lincoln rd and also aventura/bal harbour which is a bit further out.
honestly. i liked vegas a LITTLE bit more(i'm from CA though) even though i don't gamble.
btw you and your friends have good taste lol. have fun wherever you choose!

I have been to both, and I really enjoyed them both, but I ultimately went with Miami Beach. I love being able to go to the beach to relax and cool down and the nightlife on Ocean Drive is a lot of fun. The architecture is pretty cool also, the art deco district is really neat.
I love Vegas also, but there as much to do there for minors, and no ocean nearby. Something Vegas has over Miami are the casinos and the different shows.
Both are a lot of fun.

Vegas is Vegas and it has some natural places near by like Death Valley and the Grand Canyon. If Gambling or being on the same street for the weekend or week is something people want to do that is good. Both Vegas and Miami are great places to visit. Vegas is more of a pure tourist place while Miami is a true large international city. Miami is not just about tourist it is a business and commerce hub too. I think that makes it a little different. In Vegas people are there to bascially party/vacation or in that industry somehow. You don't have that in Miami. Of course Vegas has its own local areas and stuff but the only reason for that is because of the tourist etc.. I am sure people get what I mean.
It really comes down to Casinos or Beaches. Vegas does have Miami beat out with shows though. And Miami has Vegas beat in Sport events.
Overall I think Miami has more to offer. It has the clubs, shops, food, bars Vegas has. But it also has the beaches, international culture, and two national parks less than 60mins away from Miami Beach.
Both are fun though and of course being from Miami I would rather spend a weekend in Vegas.

I love Miami. I'm not into casinos so Vegas has always been an overrated vacation to me. I prefer lush landscapes and Miami has that. Its more than just one street. Add in the nightlife and the beach and Miami wins it for me. I'm really not into the desert and once the neon lights go off during the day, Vegas might as well be Albuquerque or Phoenix or some other southwestern city to me. If you're into gambling and going to shows then Vegas is a great city but I think Miami has more options when it comes to balancing fast paced vs relaxation.

Both cities are great, but Vegas has opulent accommodations, while in Miami you have mostly crap boutique hotels near the good clubs. If you want to stay in a great hotel you are going to have to pay out the ass or stay a little further off colins. Vegas you can walk on the street with alcohol and it is easy to get drugs and hookers. Both places are great for EDM. Vegas has epic pool parties during the summer with international Djs, but Miami does have a beach while Vegas doesn't. Vegas is also scorching hot with dry heat. Expect 110 degree weather during the summer. EDC beats UMF also. Vegas all the way!!!! Miami has a more international crowd as well. Miami locals are a lot more enjoyable and have a lot more fun than boring Vegas locals. Miami is a real city, while Vegas is completely manufactured tourist destination. Vegas has great Circ de soleil, The famous Carnival Buffet, Gambling, and hedonistic nightlife. The best part is that you will never need to rent a vehicle because everything is within an 8 mile radius.

Miami real city
I would choose Miami overall; everything Vegas has Miami has too; casinos are everywhere in United States. Miami isn't everywhere in the United States. And if you're in the mood to try a different hot spot Fort Lauderdale is 30 mins north and the inner local spots are endless bars, stripclubs and drugs everywhere if you're into that like me. I did enjoy Vegas; better hotels, temp drops @ night, cool lights @ night. Vegas is more rebellion cool American swag not sexy exotic.Vegas and Miami have there own style. But I always love visiting Miami.

I'm 51 and couldn't care less about the party atmosphere, lol. I avoid areas like that like the plague. I see LV as very tacky and SB as just to obsessed with shallowness and the party scene. BUT, between the 2, I'll take the beach any day.

Vegas all the way !
I agree with the OP. Once you've been on MB it all looks the same. The bars, people, atmosphere, architecture all the same.
Vegas on the other hand is different.
Every building is different on the strip. The lights, history, grandeur of Vegas is internationally recognized.
The prize fights, 5 diamond restaurants, 5 diamond hotels, The Wynn,Ceasars Palace, Bellagio, MGM GRAND city of entertainment, The Luxor, Mandalay Bay, are you kidding me ???????
This thread needs to be shut down. GAME OVA
