If you asked me 5 years ago, I would have said NoVA is more Southern. Now, if anything, I'd flip it the other way (South Florida), but really neither are Southern at all anymore.

I lived in the DC area, including NoVA, for 20 years, and coming from Boston, it didn't feel Southern at all.

It snows just a little too much, the people are from elsewhere, and you're far more likely to hear a Salvadoran accent than a Southern one.

Also has more Middle-easterners and Asians than just about any place in the south.

Texas has plenty though, and most people consider it a Southern state

Yep.

Like I said in another thread where some folks were upset about the recent elections in VA, you have people in some parts of NoVa paying close to or a little over $1M for a 2BR condo, nothing fancy or even luxury in a boring suburb like Reston - objectively speaking NoVa has more in common with the states to the North of its than its neighbors to the south and the writing has been on the wall for a while. That said, there’s still southern aspects of the culture here but overall it’s pretty minimal.

Who were the two or three posters who insisted that Nova was the south. So silly.
