Construction of the new retail portion of the 24s @ Uptown redevelopment project has begun. It's part of the larger project that renovated and added residential and commercial uses to an existing 4-story office building in Uptown Albuquerque. A new parking garage was added in the basement of the building, which allowed for some of the former surface parking areas to be redeveloped along Louisiana Boulevard.

http://www.gotspaceusa.com/wp-conten..._COVER_web.jpg

https://www.bizjournals.com/albuquer...ks-ground.html

The project is one of several that are helping to make Uptown Albuquerque more urban and dense, including the ongoing redevelopment of the former Winrock mall into Winrock Town Center. The Level 2 office space is currently under construction and the proposal for 300 apartments is working its way right now through the city's approval process, where last week it garnered another approval at the city's Development Review Board.

https://media.bizj.us/view/img/10665...ater-1crop.jpg

An aerial view of Winrock showing the new $100 million retail and underground parking structure that was completed in 2016. It was taken before the signature red pyramid and most of the remaining old mall structure were demolished earlier this year.

A recent aerial picture of the eastern end of Uptown Albuquerque where two more exciting pojects are going to add density and urbanity to the area. They are the Uptown Transit Center TOD project and Legacy Hospitality's new 6-story apartment development that I posted earlier in the thread. That project also recently garnered city approval at the DRB to go ahead.

Several new retail establishments have also opened in Uptown Albuquerque recently, including Kendra Scott, Lee Michaels Jewelry and See's Candies.

A rebooted version of Coldwater Creek has also opened in Uptown, one of the first in the nation for the new Coldwater Creek.

A new park is coming to Rio Rancho's City Centre. It's along with an expansion of UNM Hospital's Sandoval Regional Medical Center and a new $20 million building at the UNM Rio Rancho campus, which are also located in the city center. Other facilities in the city center include the 9,000 seat Santa Ana Star Center, Rio Rancho City Hall and HP Call Center.

National microbrewery chain Growler USA has opened its first location in Albuquerque on the Westside. They will also open one in the Northeast Heights.

https://d3el53au0d7w62.cloudfront.ne...ug_1retail.jpg

120,000 square feet of new retail space and a new 30,000 square foot Presbyterian Medical Group clinic are under construction at the $70 million Las Estancias center in the South Valley. The center will have over 900,000 square feet of space when it is fully built out. There will also be a residential component directly to the east of the center.

A new $34 million 240-unit apartment project and a new $20 million 120-unit senior housing project have broken ground on the Southwest Mesa adjacent to Atrisco Heritage Academy High School. They are part of the over 1,000 apartments that are under construction or recently completed in the southwest part of the city.

https://scontent-dfw5-1.xx.fbcdn.net...44&oe=5C408F58

The apartments are also part of the larger 400-acre Ceja Vista development that will include 1,500 homes and 540 total apartments at full buildout.
