Michigan doesn't have a state fair (just a glorified carnival funded by private companies inside an exposition center outside of Detroit).

I'm sure there are bigger and better elsewhere but one of my fondest state fair memories was having an Indian Taco with shredded buffalo meat on fry bread at the New Mexico State Fair down at the Indian Village while watching a pow wow.

State fairs are fun as they are very representative to the states character, and showcase agriculture which I believe is very important in every state.

The Big E is interesting it is almost like a New England Fair. It happens in West Springfield, Ma and all 6 states are represented in the fair.

Hmm I don't know which one is best, but I know that the following states have nice fairs:
Minnesota, Texas, Ohio, Florida and I think I heard that Iowa has a nice one.
