Omaha, 7 of 10. Nice riverfront and family friendly.
NEXT: Louisville, KY
6/10
Surrounded by surface parking lots, success of their riverfront is considered adding in the YumCenter! Fourth Street Live is one big chain area of yawn.

Now: Richmond, Virginia
Rating 6: Full of historic and interesting architecture, charm, and neglect. A few vibrant blocks here and there with adjacent derelict blocks. Potential? Oh Yes! and with good density. Hopefully it will get there someday.

Which downtown? Atlanta has like 3 of them. It's a fantastic city - I just wish it weren't located so closely to the 6th layer of Hell. The city just "feels" alive. I'd give their skyline a solid 8 out of 10.

Nice looking financial district/skyline, but very dull outside of Ybor City. Mostly gov't buildings. Has been 10 years since I've been so I'm sure it may have changed or improved some, but based on my visit back then I rate it a 5, it kinda sucked.

(Note: I rated it a little higher than originally planned since the scale/standards thus far seem a bit different than mine)
Huge potential/lots of work being done/more work still needed. Lots of attractions in close proximity (the Arch, 3 professional sports stadiums, out of this world city museum, redone Opera house, convention center, Citygarden, redone central library, etc.), 6 light rail stations (including underground/heavy rail style), rapidly growing population and entertainment districts fueled by beautiful rehabbed historic buildings (some really beautiful architecture), and the start of an actual neighborhood feel thanks to new amenities popping up every time I go back. Still a big work in progress though, and some sections can be quiet dead if you wander too far from the main strips during off hours. Still some abandoned buildings left as well, but many plans for more rehabs and a tax increase just passed to redo the arch grounds and riverfront along with a new bridge over the Mississippi for a new entrance into downtown. Really good density as well.
