LA still has a strong Aerospace economy, along with LAX, which pumped in 40 billion dollars last.year. LA is ran by anti business idiots though. So who knows how LAs economy would look like in 10 years.
Los Angeles is starting to make a decent showing in the tech world as well - i.e. Silicon Beach in Venice / Santa Monica / Playa Del Rey.
I'm curious, if the Bay Area continues to pile on counties to their CSA, will they get the same rep for sprawl as Los Angeles? IMO Stockton / Modesto / Tracy in your CSA is just as bad if not worse than Riverside / San Bernardino.

Yes, the valley metros are spaced apart in such a way that sprawl far worse than anything in SoCal(which really isnt bad because its relatively high density even out in the IE)is highly probable.
The adjacent metros of Sacramento+Stockton+Modesto+Merced cover a massive amount of land, rich farmland at that, and already has a combined population of about 4 million-now
Regional planning and cooperation with the Bay Area is imperative.

It is incredible how populated the Central Valley is.
Born in L.A. but I love the bay area because I had better experiences, people, scenery, tourism, and food. Although, it is pricier and finding a big brand or mom & pop retail store is tough due to a lack of land in SF.
LA is so much bigger and more important. It's like comparing a country to a single city.
SF is a tiny peninsula. It's incredibly picturesque and the entire city is arguably a theme park for tourists and photographers. Gorgeous, unique, but small.
The San Francisco Bay Area is one of the biggest cities in the world even though there are many cities bigger (including Los Angeles). The answer to the question depends on what you consider premiere. IMO SF Bay Area offers more INTERESTING things than Los Angeles and I like "The City" more in general anyway. However L.A. having Hollywood broadcast the place makes it more famous🤷
