the Twin Cities metro is a fantastic place to live 9 months a year. After January 1st the next 3 months of winter loom large. You need to escape for at least a couple weeks for sanity. Atlanta Summers' may be the same in reverse. As for San Francisco, love it but know way can afford to live a similar life style as the Cities.

Nah, Atlanta's elevation and extensive tree cover help to moderate its summers.

Atlanta summers are definitely better than gulf coast cities such as, NOLA, Houston, or, Tampa.

January 1 is when you should be able to start watching days getting longer and the temperature getting warmer. Even if it does that really slowly. The idea that winter starts then is wierd to me.

San Francisco if you have the money, otherwise Minneapolis with a ton of layers. It's a nice city if a little low-intensity.

You seem to make a lot of back-handed compliments. Is that a Seattle thing?

Would you prefer dishonesty? I'll say what I think.

If COL were a factor, I'd likely take the Twin Cities, with a mandatory winter break by the beach.

Bay area hands down. I'd probably be in Oakland or a more affordable suburb. Of course nothing is cheap in the Bay area but Oakland/ Berkley seems to be about the same price as Seattle which is where I live. It's not cheap but mild weather, ocean/ beach access, Redwoods, different towns and cities to explore nearby, cheap and quick flight to Seattle or scenic day drive.. It's not perfect but I'd take it over most other places and it feels so similar to Seattle that I get a sense of home.

1. Atlanta
2. Bay Area
3. Twin Cities

Already in the process of moving to Atlanta and I love almost everything about it. Visited the Bay Area recently and I'd love to live there as well. The cost of living is just too insane. The Twin Cities are great but I'm at a point where I'd like to move somewhere warmer than where I currently live.
