It depends on your perspective...I do consider museums exciting, and a lot of other people do as well. Add to that the excitement of historical buildings/sites/monuments, and D.C. is a pretty exciting city.

Oakland, Camden, Detroit because what's more exciting than dodging bullets daily?

Different strokes for different folks, I'm guessing you are in the minority though

Hahaha...ironic that someone from a city famous for crime would point out such flaws in other cities.

I've been to all the cities except Oakland, Seattle, Milwaukee, Atlanta and Portland, although I'm visiting Atlanta this Month. Strangely, Oakland, Seattle and Portland are also on my list to visit soon. I'm a fan of all the cities on this list but Chicago, LA, Miami, Houston seem to be the most notable missing.

Milwaukee always seemed like a cool city to me but I admit I'm a little surpised to see it on here. The list seems to be heavily East/West Coast biased. Thoughts?

1. Oakland
2. Boston
3. San Francisco
4. Seattle
5. Washington, D.C.
6. New York City
7. Milwaukee
8. Atlanta
9. Philadelphia
10. Portland

Criteria

Park acreage per person
Percent of population between 20 and 34 years old
Fast food restaurants per square mile (the fewer the better)
Bars per square mile
Big box stores per square mile (the fewer the better)
Population diversity
Movie theaters per square mile
Museums per square mile
Theater companies per square mile
Music venues per square mile

How in the world did Oakland, Portland, and Milwaukee end up on there? There are "more exciting" cities out there. LA, Chicago, and Miami to name a few.

So? Those cities aren't all that good anyway.
