Oh, and I don't think there's anything overrated about Colorado's mountains at all.

Indeed, I've never seen such limited poll options relevant to the topic. No Utah? Montana? Hawaii? Hell we got West Virginia but no North Carolina or Vermont? The poll options certainly weren't given very much thought.

So you know absolutely nothing about the Pacific Northwest at all in other words. And I can't see anything in the Colorado Rockies, The Grand Tetons in Wyoming, or Glacier National Park in Montana that resemble a red planet. Very trite and uninformed opinion to say the least.

Mountains back east are pretty, but the vegetation is so thick it blocks the horizon in too many places. We got better views, loftier peaks, more diverse topography, and more impressive natural superlatives Out West.

Honestly Alaska is just so far ahead of every other state it's hardly worth asking. In a distant, distant second would be California, then Washington, Wyoming, and Colorado.

To you that is true, but everyone has opinions - some different from yours.

I'd say Alaska is probably #1 or around there...Montana and Idaho have excellent mountains too. Remember...Alaska is the largest state in the nation and it's over twice as large as the next in line (Texas). A good part of Alaska is mountains.

I think places like Idaho, Montana, North Carolina, Georgia, and Tennessee are underrated too.

Even though I am from TN I'd vote for NC simply because they have more mountains and share most of our best peaks. Though we have Mt LeConte and that should count for comething. And Cades Cove, which isn't technically a mountain but is a unique place.

WV is not representative of the SE. They have the biggest quantity of mountains but not the quality.

No, I just didn't feel like writing out each single state in the poll, so I picked a few Western states and a couple of Eastern states.

Eastern Mountains and Western Mountains are obviously two very different scales of mountains. In the West Colorado gets all the credit but Wyoming and Montana also deserve very honorable mentions (Bitterroots in Montana are breathtaking).

In the East; NC is a cut above the rest with the Blue Ridge mountains and Mt Mitchel (highest peak east of the Rockies) followed by Tennessee and New Hampshire/Maine (Maine getting a mention soley because of Katahdin and it's impressive prominence)
