We have a lot of racist aholes in Huntington Beach- but even then they are still a fringe element, and usually only seen at the local Walmart along with the other county fair people.
Gender and racial discrimination are more the same than sexual identity.
Gays have been murdered and still are because of sexual orientation. No one should be mistreated because of anything. People have to learn to listen to others story.
The overall day to day life for a gay man is much easier than it is for a black man.
You sure about that?. There are some places, especially in the South were that might not be the case.
I suggest you read your own source, and get a clue. Much of the state of Georgia is in the Deep South, but this subregion has never included the Piedmont/Appalachian South, of which Atlanta is part of.
By the same token you can't tell someone their struggle with homophobia is less than another struggle unless you have experienced it. So by your logic above you can't really comment on it. The point is that both are similar civil rights struggles/issues...of course they aren't mirror images, but the fact that civil rights are involved makes them similar - personal anecdotes aside.
I guess you missed the part where I stated that these are initially the opinions of people I have known who are black and gay. These are their opinions, and I merely agree with them. I may not be gay, but I am black, so that makes this a personal controversy for me.

If an option is invalid then it is not an option. It's wrong to expect people to live a lie, and to characterize gay people as having an option of hiding their true identity is just heinous. No one should be forced to make such a decision.
You say it's invalid, but some might disagree. As I said before, some have willingly chosen to be discreet about their sexual endeavors. Everyone isn't with the whole "live out, loud, and proud" thing. It's not your place to say what's right for them. A lot of folks probably think every closeted gay person is living in suffering and misery, but I'm sure it's not that cut-and-dry.
I suggest you read your own source, and get a clue. Much of the state of Georgia is in the Deep South, but this subregion has never included the Piedmont/Appalachian South, of which Atlanta is part of.
I suggest you reread the source. How is Atlanta not the Deep South, get a clue and admit the facts!!!
Again, Atlanta is the heart of the Deep South and its a FACT, get over it.
I wouldn't expect much brilliance coming out of that swamp city location tho, no surprise!
