South GA and Eastern NC are the large coastal plain regions of both states. They are mostly rural and more economically depressed than other parts of the state, excepting a few small urban areas.

For the purposes of this thread, South GA is the part of the state below the Fall Line Freeway, south of Augusta, Macon, and Columbus. It includes places like Savannah, Albany, Valdosta, Statesboro, Waycross, Brunswick, and Tybee Island.

Eastern NC is considered to be the part of the state east of I-95 (excluding Fayetteville, through with I-95 runs). It contains places such as Wilmington, Greenville, Jacksonville, Goldsboro, Elizabeth City, New Bern, and the Outer Banks.

Eastern NC has a large number of military bases including Fort Bragg (the largest army base in the USA), Parris Island USMC boot-camp, Cherry Point NAS, Seymour Johnson AFB, also Eliz City USCG station.

The NC coastal areas are very popular with northern retirees, especially from Wilmington (a site for Hollywood films) down to Myrtle Beach (just Myrtle Beach alone has 100 golf courses) and further still into SC. Many students from other mid-Atlantic states attend ECU Greenville.

Parris Island and Myrtle Beach are in SC, although each is close to neighboring states (GA and NC, respectively).
