These two cities are around the same size. Where do you prefer to live and why?

Who leads in education, attractions, sports, economy, quality of live, cost of living, proximity to other major cities & future potential.

Charlotte. I prefer the sun belt over the rust belt and though it has hit a rough patch since 2008, Charlotte is still a growing, up and coming city. Cleveland has many of the problems that face the rest of the rust belt.

Wouldn't live in either one. The two are pretty equal IMO.

Education: For higher education, Cleveland wins this mainly due to Case Western Reserve University. For K-12, not a clue.
Attractions: This one may be a tie.
Sports: Cleveland.
Economy: Charlotte. Although it currently has a higher unemployment rate, partially due to rapid growth while the local economy is still mending, it's more economically dynamic than Cleveland.
Quality of life: Subjective.
Cost of living: Charlotte
Proximity to other major cities: Cleveland.
Future potential: I'll give Charlotte this one, but Cleveland has all of the necessary ingredients to make a rebound.

For visiting I'd say Cleveland is more interesting, for living I'd say Charlotte has a higher quality of life. Subjective, yes. Oh well.

Being from Phoenix I hate cold winters and not a huge fan of lake effect snow. I do however think Ohio has a lot going for it. I spent my childhood summers in Columbus, OH where my family is from and as a kid I enjoy King's Island, Cedar Point, Kalahari water park, the Columbus Zoo, and the LUSH GREENERY! But other than that Cleveland personally just doesn't do anything for me and I prefer Charlotte as a place to live for many reasons.

Charlotte appeals to me more than Cleveland does as a place to live. But if I wanted to visit, I'd go to Cleveland no doubt.

Cleveland, without a doubt. History, urbanity, culture, skyline, on the lake, transit, no southern drawl, closer to better cities. The only thing I give Charlotte is proximity to mountains.

Charlotte. I don't find the Midwest appealing, especially with the cold winters.
