I am trying to make a definitive and more comprehensive thread for what most people on here think are the best nightlife cities in the US, in terms of bars, clubs, lounges, live music, dining, last call, etc. in hopes that maybe we can discover some lesser known cities in the process as well.

It pains me to say it, but I would not put LA in the top five.
To me, Las Vegas and Miami are the uncontestable number one and two. I put NYC and Chicago as three and four. Five gets more questionable. I like Philly for five. Thats a party hard city.

These 4 stand out to be as having the best nightlife to me overall. I'm only putting four because after these 4 the other top cities are pretty close to each other and not really worth arguing over. Personally I find LA and Chicago to be a tad overrated as far as nightlife goes on this forum.

People r gonna vote for the same cities they do every-time. this thread wont make cities which aren't acclaimed for their nightlife, into nightlife meccas in the eyes of uniformed C-D posters.

Never been to Las Vegas but saw New Orleans about 3-4 weeks back and everything north of Canal Street shuts down to commercial traffic for nightlife and parties. Tuesday night, Wednesday night, Thursday night, you name it, it's always catastrophically crowded till very late in the night.
Best party city I've ever been to in this country.
I think both Chicago and Los Angeles round out the only place remaining from the obvious four for "best" and then after that it's sort of nightlife in anytown, USA. Sure, different genres and caterings but more or less, same thing, different place on a different spot on the map. |

Vegas, NOLA, and Miami are all sort of novelty party cities (AC is sort of novelty place as well)
Beyond those the obvious cities like NYC, LA and Chicago are all pretty good
Then I always enjoy places like Boston, DC, SF, and Philly
A lot would depend on what you are looking for...
