The only hatred (probably too storng a word) would be in the pro sports sense.

I hate the Giants, Mets, Rangers and Knicks etc.

I actually quite like NYC and it's people, sans their obvious poor choice of teams to root for...

Ha, ha. Right. Poor choice

Yup.. We actually like Philly, Long Island ct and even NJ

I don't think there is any hate in the region. Really. I think the op is trying to force some Midwestern standards where people living in rural areas (south of rt 80) hate the city folk (chicago) to urbanized tri-stateareawherethere isn't much of rural areas in the first place.

Yeah, poor us with our 2 time Super Bowl champs in 4 years, the New York Giants. I'm crying in a corner.

Don't really get the title of the thread.

I live in the Northeast, but definitely don't see NYC as "my big city". That having been said, I don't really either love or hate NYC, apart from the occasional sports rivalry. I'm sort of indifferent to it I guess. It is a nice place for the occasional vacation, and I do have friends that live in the NYC area, so I guess I like it in that way. And to try to go back to the thread: everyone I know in the NYC area worships their city so I guess the relationship between NYers and their city is more love than hate.
But again, the title is wierd: it's not like NYC is the center of the entire northeast....

You seriously know less than nothing. If you're older than 15, I hope you're in a special home.

I think CA is the only state that doesn't look up to New York, CA is a trend setter and a leader, CA is the most envied state in the union period, this thread should be about people hating CA not NYC or a city in flyover country.

I am actually way over 15 and spent so much time in Midwest to know that people from Illinois are called FIBS by people from other states and that central and southern Illinois really despises Chicago. Chicagoans on the other hand always put down other Midwestern cities so there is a lot of hard rivalry and hate in the region.

Midwest is undeniably mainly rural and agricultural region and of course country folks have their reservations about big city folks.

There is no such relationship in the northeast.

There's definitely an upstate vs downstate tension in NY.
