Didn't the Portland Trailblazers (NBA) have a sell out streak of 800 games or something? Pretty impressive.
The Blazers managed to sell out games and continue to have a lot of fan support even though they haven't won a playoff series since 2000. And they didn't even make the playoffs last couple years, yet managed to outdraw a lot of teams that did during the regular season. Which is more than you can say for NBA franchises in places like Milwaukee or Houston.
1. Pittsburgh. Okay, I've been to most major cities in this country, and I have never seen a town so devoted to a sports team like the Steelers. Sorry Boston, you get #2.
2. Boston
3. Green Bay. They may only have one pro sports team, but those cheeseheads are crazy
Probably Green Bay. Packers football is literally their reason for being. That's all they have.
Green Bay is almost like a college football team that happens to be in the NFL in terms of the overwhelming local fan support... Especially since you could fit the entire population of Green Bay in Michigan Stadium.
I voted for all of the cities that are not in the Sunbelt. The Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, and Pacific Northwest have the best fanbases. It isn't that the Sunbelt doesn't like sports, it is just that there is other things to focus on, especially on the coasts.
In any order the top 5 to me is: Chicago, St. Louis, Boston, NYC, and Philly.
This isn't very informed at all. NO Saints fans are notorious across the world.
College football is a much bigger deal down South. Along with high school football, people obsess over it.
I put Texas, Fl, and Ca in the same tier when it comes 2 HS Football. I forgot who said this, but one joked the NFL stood for "National Florida League"

COLLEGE:
1. Austin, (Texas)
2. Columbus, (Ohio State)
3. Raliegh-Durham (UNC and Duke)
4. Madison, WI (Wisconsin)
5. State College, PA (Penn State)
I have nothing to add to these lists -- they are pretty much perfect! Nice job!!
^ On college I have to believe that at least one (probably more) SEC following would make the list
I love the Duke/UNC (NC State too) for hoops
But on football; LSU, Florida, Georgia, Bama, Nebraska, Ok, Ohio State, Michigan, TX, ND, PSU etc. Pick you poison
Even schools like Clemson or Auburn or S Carolina or Wisconsin or Iowa or Ok State or MS State etc have notably very good following, potentially smaller in absolutes but not totally sure on fervor
note my lists were not meant to be all inclusive, just top of mind
For the Pro cities, I still have trouble places non 4 sport cities in the top. But how can anyone discount the impact of the Steelers or Penquins or Packers etc.
