The city in which I'm living is undergoing gentrification in some neighborhoods, something that has not occurred here in the past. It's an interesting process to watch, and it's nice to see all the formerly dilapidated homes being rehabbed to truly show themselves off as beautiful pieces of early 20th century architecture. I'm wondering which other cities have many neighborhoods that were formerly slums, that have been turned into hip areas for wealthy people? Post pictures if possible.

The real question is 'what cities haven't'? Any city I've gone through I going through it now.

Chicago has quite a few of them. Lincoln Park and Lakeview is the epitome of gentrification. Very suburban minded population living in a highly dense urban neighborhood.

Right, every city has neighborhoods currently gentrifying. In Milwaukee most of the activity has been south along Lake Michigan, from 3rd Ward to Walker's to Bayview, as well as some other neighborhoods.

Huge swaths of DC. In the 80s and 90s DC was avoided, especially after dark. It has totally changed since the early 2000s.

What exactly does "very suburban minded population" mean? Personally I'm not crazy about the people in both those neighborhoods but I'd argue that they are probably similar in mindset to the original people that inhibited the area much more than the population that lived there in in1960's & 70's.

MT Memphis is partially correct, but not fully. There's a mix of people in the neighborhood, but he is right that there are some suburban minded people there.
