A Canadian, pacific city versus a southern United States city ?
This doesn't even come close to working in a reasonable comparison..different histories, different nations, different educational backgrounds, different racial content/relations, different governments, different climates......worlds apart.
Been to BC and the island twice. As far as natural beauty, hands down BC is magnificent. Fresh seafood is much better. The island has a distinct international "feel"... Georgia ? no quite frankly, not even close. Friendliness ? savannah is far more old school southern snobbery (if you're not born in Savannah).
Not a good match up really. Both cities are interesting but that's where it begins and ends.
@Whatchubawdy. "Old-school southern snobbery"? SAVANNAH? Maybe in the late 19th century, but certainly not now. The old Savannah families are no longer sippin' mint juleps on the veranda while "the help" saunters in with a freshly mixed pitcher. Why? Because they're all DEAD! Long dead, in fact. Outside of a few suburban gated communities like Skidaway Island (where nouveau-riche Savannah resides and Yankee-born tennis ladies lunch and talk about their latest foray to Saks New York), there's really little snobbery in Savannah at all. It's a very open, casual city. That's why it receives so many visitors. I think you've been reading too many torn-bodice romance paperbacks with the befuddled (but gorgeous) southern belle on the cover and hulking aristocratic southern stud hovering menacingly behind her. You need to get out more -- as in the current century.

Quite the opposite, as a matter of fact. Savannah is more of a let-your-hair-down, have-a-drink type of place; quite laid back. It lacks that aristocratic aura more associated with its sister city of Charleston, just up the road.
And yes, the people in Savannah are quite friendly.

Most outside the Pacific NW are most likely unfamiliar with Victoria. Savannah has a LOT more notoriety.
Victoria is definitely not as known as Savannah but still has some notoriety especially throughout Canada. Victoria is honestly one of the most beautiful, walkable, and laid back cities in North America.
