I lived in Aurora for about 6 years growing up before I moved to Minneapolis. My wife's family lives in Atlanta and visit there for about 2 weeks every year as well.
The Summertime in Georgia is nasty and that's coming from me who lives in the North or Upper Midwest. The dew points are just too sticky for half of the year in Atlanta for my liking.
Denver may have heat but the 90's with low dew points are comfortable.
Winters in Denver are nice too since the sun is real strong. The average high in January is in the mid 40's and snow usually melts within a few days.
I enjoy that time of year more in Georgia since the mild winters there are nice but I don't think the weather beats Denver.
Atlanta for my taste has a pretty good 4 season climate. Summers aren't as bad as most people think, Spring and Fall are generally perfect, winter has some cold snaps but also plenty of mild weather. Also I don't like the idea of living somewhere where snow in May isn't uncommon.
