I suspect drugs plays a part in this. Alot of major drug routes go through the Caribbean.

Sad, only 8 states are about as safe as Canada.

Slightly baffled with the rates for NE, ND, SD, MT and Kansas.

I suspect with Nebraska, Omaha might play a part. With North Dakota, I would suspect the influx of people with the oil boom might be part of that. For South Dakota, that could be anything. Montana, that would be a mystery too. Kansas, well, alot of people don't consider that there is also a Kansas City there, as well as a Kansas City in Missouri.

I remember Des Moines, Iowa a few years ago had 5 murders for a metro area of 575,000 people. It gets up to around 15 and people are pretty freaked out....which is 2.60/100,000.
