You can. I guess my point was that if someone looks just at the numbers, without knowing anything else, then the impression one gets is that the entire state has an issue. Which you see repeated on these on these Forums time after time.

The thing I find interesting is that the state of Mississippi has the second highest murder rate (excluding D.C.), but it actually has one of the lowest VIOLENT crime rates in the country. It has a rate of 2.70 violent crimes per 1,000 people. That's lower than Colorado (which is 3.20 violent crimes per 1,000)

Wow the Caribbean is such a violent place, Puerto Rico, USVI, Bahamas. Trouble in paradise. In terms of islands Hawaii is so much less violent.
