We are in the process of looking at both Dallas and Houston as possible areas to relocate to from Maryland. We have just visited Houston and are planning our Dallas visit. While in Houston we very much liked the Woodlands as well as Katy. What areas in the Dallas vicinity, if any, would you compare to either of these. We are both in health care and the job market looks good in either. Thank you in advance.

I disagree with PP; the Dallas neighborhoods he mentioned are a better match to Houston's River Oaks, West U, and Memorial neighborhoods.

There is really nothing like The Woodlands in Dallas. If you like the master-planned communities, you'll want to check out the far north burbs here. Allen, McKinney, Frisco, Flower Mound, etc have MP's out the wazoo for you to look at. McKinney's Stonebridge Ranch is probably the closest match to The Woodlands.

Agree with all this. Obviously looking for a suburban environment, so I would look at all the North side burbs.

I grew up in the Woodlands. In my opinion, there is nothing like that here in Dallas. We live in Lakewood now.
Lakewood and the Park Cities are more like River Oaks, West U, inner loop areas. Again, IMO, the Woodlands has a special sense of community that you won't find in the burbs here.

Good luck with your move.
