MSP has this. Their downtowns are better. Overall, DFW, and imo, it isn't close.
No they don't compare. DFW is about a tier higher.
No doubt that Dallas-Fort Worth is a tier above and also 3.2 million people more than Minneapolis-St. Paul, but to state it isn't even close is a stretch as the Minneapolis area has everything the Dallas area has to offer. The Minneapolis area does well compared to Dallas, much more than Dallas does to Chicago, which is ranked just ahead of Dallas in population.

Yes and no. I think Minneapolis has most of the same stuff but just not as much of it.

I thought this thread was supposed to be about downtowns and not tier levels? I haven't been to Minneapolis or St. Paul, but I have been to DFW. Downtown Dallas has a beautiful skyline/financial district but on the pleasant 75 degree Saturday afternoon that I walked around it there was very little to no activity happening. Seemed very workaday 9-5'sh. That was in 2010, I have read they have since been making efforts to improve it.
Downtown Fort Worth on the other hand had an atmosphere/ambiance about it with a lot more pedestrian activity and charm. That along with the Fort Worth Stockyards actually made me feel like I was in a quintessential Texan city, downtown Dallas not so much. If I ever went back for another visit, I'd definitely get my hotel room in Downtown Fort Worth next time.
This makes me wonder how downtown St. Paul compares with downtown Minneapolis. I never hear much of anything about St. Paul other than it's the state capital.
Just from what I've seen in pictures, I think the downtowns of the "second cities" in each metro would make for a good comparison (Ft. Worth vs. St. Paul).
