I'm a recently divorced 36 year old guy from the Midwest looking for some advice. I have three job opportunities in three very different places, none of which I've ever lived in. Some things about me: athletic, Caucasian, combo of liberal and conservative political beliefs, straight (prefer to date Asian Americans, Caucasians, or Latinas). In general I'm not a huge fan of cold weather, but I like having four seasons--i.e., winter in small doses. I enjoy watching professional sports, running, taking my dog to the park, and eating out (I'm a huge foodie). Eventually I want to settle down and start a family, most likely within the next few years. In the interim I want to be in a place with a great singles scene for young professionals (I'm a physician). My income in all three places:
Atlanta, GA ($450,000/yr)
Anchorage, AK ($450,000 the first year then $1,000,000/yr thereafter)
Arlington, VA ($100,000 first year, $250,000 second year, then $500,000/yr thereafter)
I have $250,000 of educational debt and no savings. No kids right now.

Any thoughts/advice if you were in my shoes?
Go to Anchorage. $1,000,000 is extremely hard to pass up!
I would choose Atlanta. Alaska will be too cold for you, too far away from home, I don't think they have any professional sports teams, it will probably be too cold to take your dog for walk. What's the point of making a lot of money if you can't enjoy it? DC is nice and it will met all your requirements. Atlanta will have direct flights home so you can see family, 4 seasons, plenty of parks for your dog, plenty of new restaurants are opening here and Atlanta has a nice size Asian and Latina population.
I would stay in Alaska for a couple of years and pay off your student loans and to save some money and then I would move to Atlanta
