I love Boston but it does not crack the top 10 here. At night, Boston is quiet. Partially because ****ty alcohol laws. Boston would definietly be top 5 for day time, but I really would not even call it top 20 for night.

1. New York
2. San Francisco
3. Montreal
4. Toronto
5. Chicago
6. Miami/Miami Beach
7. Vegas
8. Los Angeles
9. Nashville
10. New Orleans

Even if Boston is more lively for different (more) hours than Miami. It’s also a lot more urban. It trumps Miami.

You would think we were past this my city trumps yours and I am bigger then you comments ....
Maybe Miami has a trump card of its own .... Lil ole Miami Beach and its hellova big nightlife scene .... The way Boston includes all its suburbs as if the city-proper too. We can surely give Miami a Miami Beach and Ft Lauderdale .....

This poll is about urbanity and liveliness...Boston’a way more urban, walkable, public transit oriented than Miami...Miami beach doesn’t give it the win..it does give it a superior party scene

I think people are selling short Boston based on 4 hours in the middle of the night vs like 18 hours during the day

I just wasn't impressed with Philly and Boston.I think LA,Washington and Guadalajara are very underrated. And no Miami isn't in the top 10.
Probably the best list anyone here has come up with. This gauging vibrancy across the entirety of 24 hours of the day and night, along with "urbanity" makes the most sense. Most cities not on this list either don't make the day time vibrancy top 10 cut, or pretty far behind in 10pm-6am vibrancy.

For urban and lively in North America, it's hard to see how there's any other serious contender for #1. It's hard for me to see another contender for number 2 aside from Mexico City unless people are doing only the US and Canada.
